If Not For You by Debbie Macomber

"Sometimes, just one person can change your whole world...

If not for her loving but controlling parents, Beth might never have taken charge of her life.

If not for her friend Nichole, Beth would never have met Sam Carney – a tattooed mechanic who is her conservative parents' worst nightmare.

And if not for Sam – who witnessed a terrible accident and rushed to her aid – Beth might have never survived and fallen in love.

Yet there are skeletons in Sam's closet that prevent him from ever trusting a woman again. Will he be able to overcome his past and fight for love?"

Debbie Macomber starts you off with a prologue that will draw you in and leave you wanting to know more about Beth and the evening she has just experienced before distracting you with something far more important! You'll have to read it to find out what...

The chapters of If Not For You alternative between the various characters so that you get a true insight into each of the main characters' lives and their perspective on the events that unfold before your very eyes as you make your way though this romantic book.  I always like that kind of format to a book as it allows you to get to know each character more intimately rather than relying on one particular character feeding you all their thoughts on a particular situation.

The characters were likeable (mostly and, if not, they might grow on you) and the storylines were interesting.

The only small thing that put me off was the use of "reach out" and "connect with" that were slightly over-American for me but that's just a personal preference.

I read Debbie's Mr Miracle a few years ago but never one of her full length novels.  I enjoyed this one and will definitely look out for her future books.  If Not For You is packed full of feeling, living up to expectations, romance, friendship, new beginnings and the prospect of second chances.

If Not For You is out now and can be purchased here in kindle or paperback format:
